IBM System Planning Tool – Legacy is a retired configuration and infrastructure-planning utility used to design and validate deployments of IBM server and storage solutions. It was commonly applied to model System x, BladeCenter, and Power Systems environments, helping architects and admins plan hardware layouts and document proposed builds.

Key capabilities included:

• Component compatibility checks across servers, blades, chassis, and options
• Power, cooling, and rack-space estimations for datacenter readiness
• Rack elevations, cabling guidance, and topology visualization
• Bills of materials and planning reports to support procurement and deployment
